Elsa María Meléndez (Caguas, 1974)

Printmaker and installation artist known for her painstaking work which incorporates embroidery, stitching, fabrics and accumulations of synthetic materials. She has exhibited in the US, Uruguay, Cuba, Ireland, Romania, Portugal, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Her work is in the collections of the Museum of History, Anthropology and Art of the University of Puerto Rico, Museum of Contemporary Art, Museum of Art of Ponce, Museum of Art of Caguas and in the Newcomb Art Museum of Tulane University, New Orleans. . In 2019 she received the Flamboyan Artist Fellowship Award in partnership with NALAC and was nominated for the 2019 USA Fellowship, United States Artists, Chicago. She is currently a curator and exhibition designer at the Caguas Art Museum.
