Molas are a traditional textile art of the Kuna or Guna community of Panama, which has spread to other regions. They are historically related to women, since the word mola comes from mommol, which means butterfly. The making of the mola shows the wisdom of the colors that some expert hands captured, originally the Gunadule woman.
This mola necklace is one of the few pieces left from Colombian artisan Miriam Rodríguez's last visit.
Adjustable suede cord, approximately 20 inches long.
