Consuelo Gotay (Bayamón, 1949)
Graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, she then pursued her master’s degree at Columbia University in New York. She joined the Graphics Workshop of the School of Architecture as an engraving apprentice under the tutelage of José A. Torres Martinó, and later trained at the studio of artist Lorenzo Homar. Her work has received numerous awards and recognitions throughout her distinguished career. She masters xilography, linoleum, screenprinting and letter design and has created portfolios and books that merge image, design and written word. Her printmaking work poses poetic elaborations of the native landscape by using textures and elegant strokes.
